Post Malone is set to drop his fifth studio album, Austin, this summer. The highly-anticipated record is a somewhat self-titled project. Austin Richard Post is a Syracuse-born record producer, singer-songwriter, and rapper. He adapted the stage name Post Malone during his teens. At 16, he dropped his first mixtape, Young and After Them Riches, which implored his schoolmates to vote him “Most Likely to Become Famous.” Indeed, Post achieved his first breakout hit with “White Iverson” in 2015. The music video for the song clocked in over one million views in less than a month. Meanwhile, Post’s Soundcloud was also receiving plenty of streams thanks to the critically-acclaimed hit. That year, the single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed in the chart for months before peaking at number 14 in 2016. The incredible hit is now a certified diamond.
Post’s massive success is not limited to his breakout hit. The rapper dropped several more multi-platinum singles from his debut album Stoney. The year 2016 was conquered by Post’s follow-up hits, like “Go Flex,” “Deja Vu,” and “Congratulations.” The following year, the Post dropped his most commercially successful album, Beerbongs & Bentleys. The record spawned several diamond-certified hits, including “Rockstar,” “I Fall Apart,” “Psycho,” and “Better Now.” All these singles dominated the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Beerbongs & Bentley earned Post three Grammy nominations for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Rap/Sung Performance for “Rockstar.” The album also earned several other prestigious accolades, including a Billboard Music Award and an American Music Award for Favorite Album - Rap/Hip-Hop. Meanwhile, Post won the American Music Award for Favorite Male Artist - Pop/Rock.
After his phenomenal achievements with his sophomore effort, Post continued to release several critically-acclaimed and chart-topping studio albums. In 2019, he released his second Billboard 200 number 1 album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, which spawned the hits “Wow,” “Goodbyes,” “Circles,” “Enemies,” and “Take What You Want.”
Last year, Post embarked on his fifth major headlining trek, the Twelve Carat Tour. The outing, which ran from 2022 to 2023, covered 63 shows across the world and grossed over 47 million dollars. This 2023, Post sets out on another massive tour. This time, he’s supporting his upcoming effort, Austin. During an interview, Post mentioned that the new album would be his most personal effort yet. “This has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and exciting records he worked on. “I feel it captures who I am as a man and as an artist in this moment. Thank y’all so much for your patience, and thank you for being there with me in my hardest times. I love y’all so much, and am ready to f—ing party with y’all.” Post, who’s loved by his fans and casual listeners for not only his music but also for his great and friendly personality, ended his statement with, “cheers, and keep spreading love.”
