2024 Year in review! Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre 2024 highlights!
Being a music fan in Florida is beyond awesome! For starters, the state is a frequent stopover for most tours and 2024 being the era of monumental returns, the period pretty much brought in some of the most exciting showdowns! This is largely thanks to the iconic venue, the Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre! The gargantuan concert grounds have been visited by the year’s most groundbreaking concerts – from rock to pop, country, indie, hip-hop, and alternative, it was definitely a fruitful time to be a lover of live music spectacles! The venue has accommodated hundreds of thousands of viewers this year and with the list of brilliant performers that have gone by 2024, there is no mystery why! This year was nothing short of amazing as the venue delivered retrospective extravaganzas, remarkable throwbacks, up and coming artists, rising stars, and the most in demand performers! Don’t believe us, well here’s a lowdown on the most exciting concerts to ever hit Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre!
Springtime came knockin’ with great music. The season definitely opened the venue with some wonderful gigs as the 20,000 capacity concert grounds came to life with fantastic tunes. Brooks and Dunn definitely brought some excitement as they lit up Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre with their Reboot Tour. The duo definitely set the stage ablaze with “Brand New Man,” “Cowgirls Don’t Cry,” “Red Dirt Road,” along with a stunning encore. Neo-traditional country music at its finest took centerstage on Saturday, the 4th of May, 2024 as they delivered over 20 songs for the cheering crowd. Old school country music was definitely the star but a few days later, the venue opened up to another series of country rager featuring the highly sought after superstar Chris Stapleton. The ten-time Grammy winning powerhouse brought along some friends Grace Potter and Nikki Lane for his critically acclaimed All Amerian Road Show. You betcha this show was brimming with rave reviews. The outlaw phenom, whose voice has been revered by fans as a force of nature, absolutely gave fans a night to remember.
The very next day, the venue was taken over by another multi award-winning phenom, Hozier, who’s eclectic music brought in a variety of fans from far and wide. Hozier, famous for his viral hit song, “Take Me To Church,” served a multitude of music styles – from rock, to pop, R&B, blues, and soul on Saturday, May 11th, 2024. Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre definitely lit up with anthemic hits and there were plenty of moments wherein the crowd sang along word per word.
The monster touring machine, Dave Matthews Band took over on Wedensday, May 22, 2024. Where the veteran jam band lands, a magnitude of buzzing fans will follow and boy was the venue mighty packed during that evening! As expected, the band delivered monumental jams where they showcase their incredible artistry and superb prowess.
Before the month of May came to a close, Former One Direction member Nial Horran, who also has launched an amazing solo career, ignited Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre with his The Show Live On Tour. The X Factor alum who later became a member of the biggest boyband in the world was promoting his highly anticipated third album, The Show. In a review, Nial Horran was praised for giving fans a night to remember, “The setlist featured tracks from across his discography, each resonating with themes of love, friendship, and mental health,” wrote Tampa Bay Creative Loafing. Besides, Horran’s penchant for delivering top caliber entertainment, the show also wowed audiences with an incredible production.
Summer Concert Season
June was also as diverse as the venue saw some hip-hop icons, country stars, pop sensations, and a legendary band. On Wedensday, 5th June, the unabashed Tyler Childers brought the ultimate country showdown with the Mule Pule 24 Tour The show also brought along rising stars Valerie June and Willie Carlisle along for the ride. The 33 year old performer is currently one of the most sought after live acts in the genre as he pulled in a whopping five Grammy nominations. Although he didn’t win, the singer was obviously a crowd favorite as he delivered mighty hits like “Universal Sound,” “Heart You’ve Been Tendin,” “Shake the Frost,” and tons more.
After a phenomenal country extravaganza during spring, summer came raging with top rap icons. First, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie came turned up the venue with his Better Off Alone Global Tour. Closing in on his first decade as a professional performer, this rap phenom has actually pursued a multiude of major tours. So his gig in Tampa was definitely not your run of the mill rap concert. It was a raging moment as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie spit out some fire verses and showcased his immense artistry and lyricism on Thursday, June 6. As if this hip-hop showdown wasn’t enough, the venue said hello to rap superstar 21 Savage with his special guest JID on June 14th. The Grammy winning powerhouse was in town for his American Dream Tour and it was absolutely a fantastic night of powerful hits, brimming on stage charisma, and top caliber verses.
June came to a close with a grand spanking performance from legendary rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers on Friday, June 21st. The band was in town with Ice Cube and Iron Tom as their special guest. Like any RHCP show, this highly awaited spectacle brought out all the stops including top notch hits like “Californication,” “Under the Bridge,” and “Give It Away.”
The following month paved some shows for throwback lovers as the female driven spectacles led by Queens of R&B Tour turned up the venue with magnificent 90s hits. The thrilling show was headlined by Xscape and SWV along with performances from Maya, Total and 702. Meanwhile, pop princess Janet Jackson came in the same month with her Together Again Tour. Definitely, the original all around performer – from dance, to vocals, and mind blowing stage outfits, Janet Jackson demonstrated why she’s still at the top of the live concert food chain.
Meanwhile, old school rockers also had a little something something. In this case, it was the jaw dropping spectacles of the Doobie Brothers and Robert Cray Band on Thursday, July 11th and Sammy Hagar and Loverboy on Sunday, June 14th. That week was definitely a fire moment as these magnificent live acts brought the good ol ‘rock and roll to Tampa. But let’s not forget that July also saw the arrival of Styx and Foreigner! These two phenoms definitely screams throwback and brought in a wide range of rock fans – from young and old, to new school and old school.
Summer at the Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre was mighty packed. The venue hosted adrenaline rushing performances from metal icons I Prevail and Halestorm on Thursday, August 1st, Limp Bizkit on Wednesday, August 7th, and Stone Temple Pilots and Live on Wednesday, August 28th. Rockers defnitely had a great season with these remarkable live acts that not only proven their well deserved longevity but have also been known to deliver mindblowing live performances. As if these rockers were not enough, the venue also opened to some sensational veteran performers like Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire, whose co-headlining tour pretty much broke some unknown world record.
Fall season was definitely buzzing with great shows at the Midfloride Credit Union Amphitheatre and music fans were scrambling for tickets! September opened up with the grand world tour of Imagine Dragons, titled the Loom World Tour and it was absolutely a raging evening with gargantuan hits like “Radioactive,” “Demons,” “Bones,” and tons more. The ground was shaking that evening on Sunday, September 1 and fans were definitely having the time of their lives. The season was also a great time for head bangers as the venue welcomed the performances of Korn, Gojira, and Spiritbox on Thursday, September 12th, and Creed, 3 Doors Down, and Finger Eleven on Friday, September 20 for the Summer of ‘99 Tour.
Fall season also saw the arrival of legends. In this case, it was the jaw dropping reunion of the Marley Brothers. Celebrating the life’s work of their father Bob Marley, the brothers brought in the Legacy Tour, which had reggae fans grinning from ear to ear as they delivered top rated hits like “So Much Trouble in the World,” “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Concrete Jungle,” and “One Love.” That evening on Friday, October 4, the brothers delivered a whopping 26-song setlist and definitely gave fans a bang for their bucks.
It was definitely a year to remember and Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre provided music fans and world class artists a top notch venue to enjoy superb live music. The venue is home to cutting edge lights and sound technology and is also an archetype of top of the line entertainment facilities. The venue provides both reserved seating and lawn accommodations, catering to every type of preference. Its unique open-air amphitheater is the highlight of the Florida State Fairgrounds, located at Interstate 4. Its great location makes it highly accessible from various cities – whether you’re from Tampa, Brandon, and Temple Terrace.

Some reviewers from Tripadvisor raved about their experiences at the Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre. Toni T. from Nashville went to the venue to see Chicago and Earth, Wind, and Fire, “The parking process is very organized, with orderly entry and attendants guiding everyone to the venue. Vendors sell various alcoholic drinks, sodas, and several waters. My friend found her soda to taste bad and the vendor offered her another beverage free of charge.” Meanwhile, Sandra B. who was at the same concert also shared her phenomenal time, “We went to see Chicago and Earth Wind & Fire. It was an excellent concert and the venue had several good places to eat and drink that were reasonably priced.”
Abby S. who came in to see Hozier said, “First time going to the venue yesterday to see Hozier (who is AMAZING by the way) and had an AWESOME time. The audio quality was great and the seating was comfy, it was nice to have actual bathrooms.”
Lastly, Douglas from Gainsville, Florida attested to the fantastic times this venue can deliver, “I have been going here for years, and never have had a bad experience. We go to about 6-10 concerts a year, and about 3-6 of them at this venue. With experience we found where we like to sit and which shops we prefer to purchase from.”
